My father was born in Drinkwater on Jan. 29, 1912. His parents, and aunt and uncle came to Drinkwater around 1908 as newlyweds in search of prosperity. Before this their home was in Decatur County, Indiana. They were "homesteaders" and given land in return for farming it. Through stories I hear it was very harsh in the wintertime. They eventually came back to Indiana and farmed there.

I'd love to find out more if anyone can direct me. The landowners names were Oliver Marshall Martin and Samuel McDermit.
