Lloydminster is a city in the province of Alberta. The city was named for the Rev. George Exton Lloyd.
Former and merged community names include:
· Britannia Settlement
The Rev. Isaac Barr recruited nearly 2,000 English immigrants to the area in the early 1900s.
The settlement of Lloydminster was founded on the 4th meridian, which became the provincial boundary when Alberta and Saskatchewan were created in 1905. The community was split, until amalgamation in 1930.
