2001 population: 5,117 (Source: Statistics Canada) "Buffalo capital of Canada" Wainwright is a town in the province of Alberta. The town was named for William Wainwright, railroad official.
A World War II prisoner-of-war camp was located here, on the site of the former Buffalo National Park.
