2001 population: 115,463 (Source: Statistics Canada) Abbotsford is a city in the province of British Columbia. It is on the Fraser River. One tradition says the community was named for Harry Abbott, railroad superintendent. Another says it was taken from Walter Scott’s home, Abbotsford Castle, in Scotland
