2001 population: 1,788 (Source: Statistics Canada) Ashcroft is a village in the province of British Columbia. It is on the Thompson River. The village was named for the Ashcroft Ranch.
Former and merged community names include:

Brothers Clement Francis Cornwall and Henry Pennant Cornwall, founders of Ashcroft Ranch, sold flour to packers and miners, helping to make the community a major stopping-point inbetween Kamloops and Spence's Bridge.
Filming location for TV drama, "The X Files" and 2007 movie, "Shooter"
