Brackendale is in the province of British Columbia. It is on the Squamish River. One tradition says the community is named after the first postmaster, Thomas Hirst Bracken. Another says it was named for settler John Bracken. And a third suggests that it was named for ferns growing in the area.

Wildlife: Thousands of bald eagles descend on the area between mid-November and February.
