The community is bounded by 16th Avenue, Fraser Street, 41st Avenue, and Cambie Street.
Little Mountain, the city's highest point, began to be logged at the end of the 19th century.

In first decades of the 20th century, rock quarries attracted the area's first significant settlement.

By 1930, a rock quarry on Little Mountain had been converted into a reservoir. A few years later, in 1940, the reservoir became a covered parking lot.
