Pugwash is a village in the province of Nova Scotia. It is at the mouth of the Pugwash River. The community was named after the Pugwash River. The river's name derives from Mi'kmaq for "shallow water."

The village is known as the site of the first Pugwash Conference - a meeting of scientists concerned about armed conflict and other global issues. The organization won the 1995 Nobel Peace Prize.
