2001 population: 110,372 (Source: Statistics Canada) Cambridge is a city in the province of Ontario. It is on the Grand River. Some say this community was named after another early settlement, which took its name in honor of the duke of Cambridge, son of George III.
Former and merged community names include:
· Cambridge Mills · Erb's Mills · Preston
Cambridge was created in 1973 through the amalgamation of the city of Galt, the towns of Hespeler and Preston, and parts of the townships of Waterloo and North Dumfries.
Filming location for 2004 movie, "Saint Ralph" and 2006 movie, "Man of the Year"
Well-known residents have included:
