St. Thomas is a city in Elgin County, in the province of Ontario.

The city was named for Col. Thomas Talbot.

Jumbo the elephant, the star of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, was killed here in 1885 when struck by a train. A century later, the city erected a lifesized monument.
